This week, it’s time to get a bit more serious. As you probably know, the World Health Organization declared the current situation of the covid-19 virus (AKA Coronavirus) as a global pandemic. We don’t only want you to enjoy the best apps and games, but we also want you all to stay safe. Below you’ll find the pieces of advice provided by the specialist in the matter and some apps that might help you out!
Washing your hands regularly with water and soap or alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands (not only coronavirus). On top of that, it’s also important not to touch your face. Yes, we’ve all realized that when you cannot touch your face is when you most want to do it the most!
Firstly, avoid crowded places in those regions where the virus has already widespread. In case you still need to interact with people due to work, school, or any other reason, it is recommended to maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
We know... it’s basic education. But it’s important to mention this now more than ever. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing. Then, dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Many countries have already directed the population to follow certain procedures. It depends on your local health authorities, so stay informed (via official channels of communication) about the right procedure to follow and avoid contact with other people.
Information is knowledge, but these days it’s very easy to fall in the trap of fake news. Follow official information channels (again, your local authorities) and make sure your sources are trustable. Here you have the app of the World Health Organization:
Population in the most affected areas, like some Asian and European countries, are, in general, showing a great sense of responsibility by staying home to prevent the virus from spreading more. We saw it first in Wuhan and now in major European cities. And how can we contribute as an app store? Apps! These ones might be of use while you are doing your part: #StayTheF***kHome
House Party it’s my favorite. It’s basically like Skype, but fun. You can video call friends and play games with them. The best part? Any of your friends can join. I was surprised how different friends joined to one same conversation, without knowing each other! You can also use Skype or Zoom, all of them work quite well. Or you can also do like the Italian guy in the video below, although we believe it’s a bit extreme.
These are good days to catch up with that series, movies or documentaries that you’ve been willing to watch for a while. Maybe Game of Thrones again? Sex Education? Did you know La Casa de Papel is back?
It's natural to worry these days, especially people who are in the most affected areas. Playing a game always helps to relax and give our mind a rest, so let's do it online with more people! There are tons of games with that social component, but we've chosen this one because it's back, and it's absolutely killing it!
Spending more time at home than usual is not an excuse to spend it sitting down. Taking care of your body is important! So, make sure you get your daily amount of exercise. Some people in South Spain are even doing it as a community activity!
