Here’s a game that narrates you a story without the utterance of a single word of narrative. Beautiful artwork and creative designs narrate the story as you tap on controlling your fuzzy character. The design of the game is not stingy on details either. You can notice some shadow creatures in the background that monitor your progress as you play on. Moreover, stunning audio alongside the atmospheric graphics contribute to the game play innovation. You do not win the 2013 Apple Design Award with garish designs.
The forest setting may appear attractive but behind the beautiful terrain lurks many obstacles threatening your character. It is either do or die; avoid them or your character perishes. Some of the obstacles that lay ahead of you include platforms that tilt, plants that explode, circular saws, sticky cockleburs and lots more.
To be able to manoeuvre the terrain, you simply tap on your screen. As your character is flying above the forest undergrowth, you may hold down your finger on the screen to make it soar higher to avoid various obstacles. The support you get in this game definitely spices things up. The support is manifested in power-up pods, that you pick up to shrink your façade, enlarge it, give it speed and even spawn your friends!
The game has so far bagged 6 major awards (wow!). It features both single and multiplayer modes and you can form a cooperation of up to 4 players! That’s how they get spawned into your levels. Badland does not have a shortage of levels. You and I can participate in creating levels and regular updates on the levels keep you tuned in. You can share your levels with your friends! Can you conquer your sibling’s or best friend’s level?
The setting may give you the idea of a fairy tale but if you snooze, you might just get your character shredded into pieces! How tough a nut do you think this will be for you to crack?
