Game of the Week

Pimkin Bloom

Our Game of the Week this time is brought to us by one of the biggest legends in the Android gaming world. Niantic broke all records back in 2016 with Pokémon GO in terms of downloads, users, and hype. Although many of us are still playing that big hit, we’ve been waiting for Niantic to bring us something new... and here it is! Please welcome our new Game of the Week, Pikmin Bloom!

It’s true that there have been several attempts to replicate the success of Pokémon GO in recent years. Some of them, such as the Harry Potter-based Wizards Unite or Minecraft Earth, were actually very promising, however all of them fell short of our expectations. This may have been due to the level of complexity attempted by these games, something that Pikmin Bloom has seemed to resolve. In the latest addition to Niantic’s portfolio (in collaboration with Nintendo), we’re encouraged to leave our houses and have a nice walk in the real world. This will allow us to discover new seedlings and grow tiny creatures called Pikmin, which are a mix of animals and plants. These cute creatures are easy to compare to Pokémon, as the main goal of the game is to collect them and grow them. That being said, the premise is slightly simpler than that of its previous counterpart.

On our outdoor adventures we can also find fruit, which is then distilled into nectar. You can then use this to grow the flowers on top of our Pikmin to make them look even cuter! As you can see, Pikmin Bloom is a relaxed and casual “real-life” game that can be used as a way to add a little bit of fun to your daily walks.

Although most of us were looking forward to the new Niantic title being an action-packed real-world adventure, we have to recognize that this casual and cute game has conquered our hearts anyway. Give Pikmin Bloom a chance and let us know what you think in our social media channels!
