Game of the Week

Phobies

Sometimes we find beauty in the most grotesque and strange creatures, and if we add cute graphics and the right level of strategy, we can even love them. This is the case of our Game of the Week: a title that many would compare with Hearthstone or even with Clash Royale. Ready for Phobies?

In Phobies, players build armies of this weirdly ugly creatures to fight against each other in a battlefield. The ultimate goal? To destroy their opponent’s base! Knocking down these bases, which are shaped like beating hearts, is not as easy as you may think, since you’ll have limited resources to summon creatures or carry out attacks. On each turn, you’ll be able to play 3 keys on new creatures, and each one of them gets two actions per turn. The creatures are all different, which means that combining their attack and special powers (moving faster or further, or even healing) will be key on your path to success.

One of the things that makes Phobies unique is the style of its characters. The creatures are designed in a very uncomfortable way, but at the same time, we cannot help it but to love and keep looking at them. Even, Lippy, the pair of lips in charge of the tutorial at the beginning of the game seems very weird and creepy. Also, the controls are as nice and simple as we could expect in this type of strategy games. With the battleground set over a grid, you’ll just need to tap on the creature you want to select and move it around or use it to attack an enemy.

Although we've already seen quite a few strategy-turn-based games like this one in the Android gaming world, we have to recognize that the unique character of Phobies creatures has actually conquered our hearts. Give Phobies a try now and don’t forget to tell us what you think in our social media channels!
